Beginning Yoga: In these classes, students new to yoga will learn the fundamental movements and techniques which will serve as preparation for any basic yoga class. Both elemental yoga postures and breathing exercises will be introduced.  Newcomers are welcome at any time.

 

Intermediate/Advanced Yoga: Some prior knowledge of basic yoga poses is helpful.  All classes include a warm-up, some flow, standing poses, seated and reclined poses, followed by pranayama.  More challenging poses will be offered in phases so that each student can meet the pose at their level on that day.

 

Yoga Therapy Classes: These routines have been adapted from the sequences of poses that Gary Kraftsow developed for the 2005 NIH study which proved that yoga is the most effective form of movement to relieve chronic back pain.  While you may feel an immediate benefit, these routines also have a cumulative effect.  The more consistently you practice these sequences over a long period of time, the more rewards you will reap.
